Haunted England FAQ
Because of the changes to Haunted England (5th June 2007), we felt it important we just add a quick FAQ, with regards to how our site now functions
This FAQ mainly applies to those with existing sites registered on Haunted England Top 100,
Is my existing user-name and password still the same?
Yes we took careful consideration, to ensure the transition for our members was as easy as possible.
Your voting button on my site has disappeared, why?
We sent out a quick newsletter detailing this issue, however if you've not received it then this is why:
There were some huge changes made to our site database and scripting, because of this it became impossible to maintain the HTML code you previously used to get your dynamic button. However we felt it important that you users could still vote for you, so we made a special script that when a viewer clicks the broken image and text they can still rate your site.
In the newsletter we requested that all sites log back into Haunted England and generate their new HTML code, and replace that they previously used.
I listed more than one paranormal website, however I can only find one of them, where is the rest?
We took our system back to basics, to make it easier to track voting, and how the Haunted England website is used, because of this we made extensive changes to our database, and took the decision to only allow one website per account, if you had more than one site listed, then unfortunately we kept only one and removed the rest.
However all is not lost, you are still able to sign up for more than one account, and in doing so can still add more than one site, it's just now each site listed here will require a unique user-name.
Can I list more than one website?
The short answer is yes, however we only allow one website per user-name, this therefore means you will have to create additional accounts, one account for each website.
Is this website free to use?
Absolutely, the idea behind Haunted England is to make it easier for people to find paranormal related websites.
At the moment when you use search engines for paranormal subjects, you don't always get the results you'd like.
Therefore Haunted England is dedicated to getting paranormal websites seen.
We also run another sister site to Haunted England titled 'Haunted England - Paranormal & Spiritual Search Directory' you can also submit your links there too.

Do we have to link back to Haunted England?
Unlike other Top Sites, we don't require that you link back, and we will not remove your link if you don't.
However in order to be voted for, and be ranked you will need to put our HTML code (button) on your website, this allows your viewers to vote.
If you are already registerd then you can get your unique HTML code by logging in then going to your account, you will see a link their to generate your code.
What other changes have you now made?
To ensure the integrity of Haunted England is kept, all new sign ups will need to be approved by a member of the Haunted England Team.
Our policy on accepting sites is pretty straight forward and detailed as followed:
- Your site must be of a paranormal nature.
- Your site must not be full of pop-up's and ad's.
- You site must not be 'Under Construction' by more than 30%, in other words, there must be content available for our viewers when they click to visit your website, after all we don't want to waste their time.
We will visit your website before it goes live, and as you can see above we're not strict, we just want to ensure the best for people using the Haunted England Website
Members can now also review and rate your website, however there are further stipulations here for those posting reviews.
- We will not allow swearing
- We will not allow links within the review
- We will not allow advertising in the review
- If you have something negative to say about a website, then this must be written in a constructive manor and not be abusive.
Can I put my voting banner on other sites, or use it in E-mails
Yeah sure, this will help to promote your site and the use of Haunted England.
We have however improved voting security on Haunted England and as such your viewers will only be able to vote from the website in your listing.

Button for www.hauntedengland.net - Button will work when placed on this site, stats are counted and users can vote.
Button used in E-mail or on other site for www.hauntedengland.net - Button will work, however stats will not be counted and users can not vote
This is to ensure that your voters, come from your website.
Where are all our previous stats?
Along with the site changes we refreshed all our stats, a clean slate if you wish
How often will you re-rank the website
Our site is now re-ranked every week, meaning that every site listed and whom is linking back to Haunted England, has a chance of being number one, now you don't have to play a game of catch up.
Why do my comments go live?
Chances are they are not constructive, they hold no value, they appear to personal attacks and offer no value to Haunted England or it's users.
All comments are reviewed by an admin first, this process can take up to 2 weeks from submission. If the admin finds obscene language or inappropriate remarks then the comment will not go live.
We will also no longer accept short comments such as "nice site", "fantastic website", etc, etc, this is not constructive and offers no value what soever.
